Completed Prototype
We have uploaded the final prototype for our game Mobster Massacre on itch.io. The game was programmed by Kevin Viet Nguyen and the art was done by myself (Andrew Barrios). The movement is controlled by the WASD keys or the arrow keys, and the shooting is based on where you left click the mouse. There is also a list of instructions in the menu. The main story for our game is that you play as a mob boss, and your hideout was raided by a rival gang. Now you must face the waves of enemies and see how long you can survive. The core gameplay revolves around an endless shooter where you must shoot the other gang members before they are able to get to you. You have 3 lives and once you use all of them you die and must start over. You are competing to see how good of a final time you can get.
Since the alpha we have made quite a few improvements to the game. On the art side we added title and death screen art, a second enemy, music and sound effects. On the programming side we increased the difficulty and make the direction that the enemies come from more realistic. we also added player lives represented by smaller sprites near the bottom of the screen to make it easier to understand how much health you had. With more time we would have liked to have enemies shoot back, add multiple levels, and add a more in depth story to the game. As it stands now however we are quite proud with how the game turned out and with the feedback we have received on the game.
